1 XBOX360 Games on Demand Beginning August 11 on August 8th 2009, 6:34 am

2006 Sonic a Part of Slated Lineup...

The next time you update your XBOX 360 dashboard, and you would like an immediate exercise in futility, you may be able to purchase a re-release of the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog.

That’s because on August 11th, the new dashboard update will launch Microsoft’s XBOX Live Games on Demand service. Microsoft made the official announcement to coincide with the beginning of the San Diego Comic-Con.

The service is expected to launch with more than thirty games, and the widely panned 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog may be one of them. Not totally clear right now–though expected–is whether this will be a straight port of the original game, as opposed to something more. There are fleeting hopes within some facets of the Sonic community that the glitches and errors that plagued the 2006 Sonic may be cleaned up for this release.

That remains to be seen. We’ll know for sure–possibly as early as August 11th–when Games on Demand rolls out. Be sure to keep an eye out on your XBOX Dashboard for the service and many other planned improvements.

Actually Zezima, the Games On Demand service is being activated a bit earlier than promised for those on the dashboard update preview. The games can be purchased with a debit/credit charge or Microsoft Points. To pay with MSP, hit the Y button while viewing the purchase screen.

The following games are now currently available on the Game Marketplace (all prices US):
- Assassin's Creed ($29.99, 2400 MSP)
- BioShock ($29.99, 2400 MSP)
- Call of Duty 2 ($29.99, 2400 MSP)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion ($29.99, 2400 MSP)
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga ($29.99, 2400 MSP)
- Mass Effect ($19.99, 1600 MSP)
- Need for Speed: Carbon ($19.99, 1600 MSP)
- Sonic The Hedgehog ($19.99, 1600 MSP)
- Viva Pinata ($19.99, 1600 MSP)

The following titles have been confirmed to be available at launch of the global dashboard update but have not yet been released:
- Burnout Paradise
- Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE
- Fight Night Round 3
- Kameo: Elements of Power
- Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore
- Meet the Robinsons
- MX vs. ATV: Untamed

Addendum:
Manuals for these games can be found in PDF format on the Marketplace page for each game on Xbox.com.
So looks like I was wrong you can pay with points. SCORE! Also I can buy Bioshock and Oblivion at Wall mart for 30 bucks, so the games are still overpriced

Sounds like a huge waste of money to me.
