    Windows 8

Post by karkooshy on June 3rd 2011, 6:26 am

Microsoft just previewed Windows 8 a few weeks back:

Personally, I think it would be great running on tablets or smartphones.
But computers??? Seriously. Who wants great big boxes floating around your screen... the tiles were primarily made for touch... that's why they're so big.
If you're gonna copy Apple by bringing tiles from your phone to your main operating system, do it properly. Apple is bringing SOME of it's iOS features to Mac OSX Lion... not the whole flippn' system.
Producitvity-wise, Windows 8 is a downer. It looks good, but looks aren't everything.

Looks like I'll be supporting XP till the end of time at this rate. :P

I think they need to stick with windows 7 for a while and polish it. Rather than keep releasing new versions. But, doesn't really apply to me, as I quit using windows near xp sp3.

DICE said they aren't going to allow their games to be played on Windows 7 computers, pretty soon the game industry is going to follow suit. Besides 7 is amazing, all the innovations of Vista with none of the bugs.

7's alright, it gets the job done. But I still prefer XP. And the PC games I have are already outdated, so unless Windows 7/8 can play Sonic 3D Blast or Virtual Springfield, then I'm staying with XP still.

    Windows 8?

    Sounds good, I gotta say...

I hope it's better than Windows 7 was.

I will bet money on the fact that it won't be better than XP.

It looks unique but it's going to be a big change. I want to use it before I form an opinion on it though.

Looks allright for tablets. But if this is for PC then it will be a bigger failure than vista!

It can't be worse than vista, but then again it is Microsoft.

Not realy fussed about Windows 8 to be honest, only just got used to Windows 7 so changing so quickly is just too much, can't say I am all that fussed about it anyway to be honest so I think I will probably stick with Windows 7 for a while.

    Try dosbox.

Empire Earth isn't DOS, it's a Win-XP and since the official windows emulator only works on the overpriced versions of windows 7.. you can see the problem here

Why so soon? Windows 7 still seems up to date and runs great.
