Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
Hello everyone, my name is BlitzMaster9000, and this is my first time doing this, in fact, I've just joined about 5 minutes ago. But I've done stuff like this in other forums before. Now I'm part of the younger division of fans, so, I'm always looking for ways to play older Sonic games. Now, I heard about Sonic R through the Tails Doll. At first I was a bit scared of the "Cursed doll" but eventually, I came to like both the Tails Doll, and Sonic R. Now, I can't find any new copies of the Sonic Gems Collection for Gamecube, and I don't own a Gamecube controller for my Wii anyway. So I think that SEGA should make a remake for the 360, PS3, and the Wii U. And I don't just mean slapping the original game onto XBLA and PSN, I mean puling a Sonic CD, and fixing all the old problems, and improving the graphics. Now, since Sonic R is a small game, I would add some new missions to the mix. 10 for each track, I'd say. But whatever they do, they should not add new characters! Well, maybe they could add extra skins, like in SA2, y'know like how Rouge's extra skin is the EggRobo! But those should be unlockables.
I know it's a very unlikely thought, but I want to know if anyone else would like this to happen.

I have it on Gems Collection, and it's kind of a dumb game. But I guess if they did it right it could work.

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
It'd be nice, I guess. However, I don't think they should update it.
It's a game I felt had aged pretty well after playing it on Gems Collection.

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
I played that game and unlocked everything already.
I want a new game.
THOUGH, If some programmers are really bored, I think a lot of the Sonic Fans would get it for their kids. Or play it on their cell phones.

It would need a completely new game. There really isn't anything special about the game. I would much rather have a Sonic Riders game that is more akin to the original than Sonic R. Heck, I would rather have an HD remake of Sonic Riders than R.

Why did you make a new account?
But yeah, I'd rather have a sequel, but I'd buy a remake?

A Sonic R port would only do well if the added a ton of of stuff to the game. Characters, Tracks, etc.

I don't get what you mean by making a new account. I just joined yesterday. Like I said, I'm a total noob. BTW, whenever I update my profile, it says I "I cannot subscribe to this forum". Maybe it's something to do with the fact that I'm 11, but it confuses me. Please can you sort this out?

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
I get the point, Sonic R is a very short game, and it hasn't aged well. But, this refers back to the whole Sonic CD argument. You know how Sonic 4 Episode 2 is a spiritual sequel to Sonic CD? Well, if a Sonic R remake sold well, maybe the demand for a sequel would arise, or at least a few of the tracks reappearing in Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed. Besides, I'd love a remixed soundtrack. Oh, and as my last 2 posts stated that I was a total noob, how do you change your avatar pic?

But the soundtrack doesn't need to be revamped, remixed, or whatever.

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
I rather have a sequel. New characters, better control scheme, more tracks... all it needs.
As a concept I much have have had this than Riders it makes more sense as a Sonic racing game. Shame they never made a sequel (Rivals I guess is the spiritual successor)

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
I would. I am one of those who loved the game, and I would certainly like to see an HD remake of the game, though I would not be upset if it weren't made for some reason.

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed this game. But I'd rather have a sequel, so that if they were ever to make a Sonic R 2 (which at the moment, sounds unlikely), we could have better designed levels. I also would like more balanced characters, as well as items, obstacles, etc, so that it would be a lot more fun and challenging to play. I always felt when playing multiplayer, that if a player was in first, it stayed like that for the whole race, so the addition of items and obstacles would do the game good. As for the levels, I'd just like them to have more platforming sections and more challenging secret or alternate routes, as well as better AI.

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
Since the old PC version for some reason won't work on my computer. Why not make a remake of Sonic R the Taxman way? I didn't like the PAL slowness on my PS2 (its imported) and I should have this on my comp.
So yeah, remake please!

Re: Who wants a Sonic R HD remake?
NO, nobody wants HD remakes of these games. Its an incredibly stupid game and the only thing it got right was that everyone can go fast but with different abilities. Its only slightly fun when in multiplayer, but honestly for a racer where you play as Sonic, I'd stick with Sega All-Stars.
The music was also pretty good though, and I don't understand all the hate it gets.

By no means was it a great game, but with the current technology of the consoles, a sequel could work better than a remake. You may not support the idea, but clearly several of the people here would think this would be fun. Also, ASR was great and all, but we only get so many foot racing games. No need to act like you speak for everyone else.

Of course you're not joking; you're telling a bold-faced lie. That's not a joke. You'd make a better president than Obama.
