sure. i like it because its a lot easier to go beyond the realm of reality in animation and cartoons than by using actors. as in, a show like battlestar galactica is only possible with a huge budget, while a show like gundam can be done with an ounce of the cost. different feeling, but meh

I don't. That's my main reason why I was turned away from Sonic X.

It depends on what the theme is. Most of the animes I see always have to involve some sort of supernatural gimmick to their characters, and that's why I can't attach myself to anime shows at all. What happened to good old fashioned fighting without the gimmicks and with actually well thought out storylines? If animes had more "everyman" heroes instead of super powered lifeforms, then I would like anime shows. So yeah, I agree with Zez.

but i think the purpose of anime is to do the unnatural, yknow? like everyday heroes are easy to portray in a tv drama. like jack bauer of 24. stuff like that.

but anime, the entire imagination opens up. theres nothing you cant draw. in real life, with actors, you cant make giant robots fight each other, or teenagers fight fireball spewing monsters. those kinds of stories and powers are only possible through anime. anime isnt really meant to be down to earth. most of its genres take advantage of the fact that anime itself doesnt have to be taken seriously, in regards to characters, physics, and technologies.

    Argument:

Supporters: Anime = Cartoon, thus = Possibilites

Opposers: Unrealistic = Unrelateable = Unenjoyable

    Cool, I made a comprehensive summary! :D

I like Anime. Don't watch allot of them though.
It's more because of the drawing style then the actual story behind it.
But sometimes it's the reverse and it's because of the story.
The japanese think of the most strangest of plots. And you know what? I like it!
Where else can you find a story about a 10 year old girl who has a crush on her teacher and would go so far to get married to him? Or where else can you find a story where some guy is sent to an island and finds out he has 12 sisters there? Or where else do you find a story where the BUTLER IS A COMBAT MASTER?!

Sometimes the Art can be so irritating, it puts me off from watching the show at all regardless of how well written it is. There are so many sub genres of Anime art, it's boggling. As long as it's realistic enough I can relate to the art, I'm good. As with the plot, it all depends, for me anyways, on the complexity and how clever it is, the higher level of the latter, the higher my rating of it. My Favorite Anime of All Time (Or in my Top 3): Death note. It combines all the elements of what I call a perfect Anime.

I can get through bad art. Heck I rather have the new Spectacular Spider-man then the older Spiderman TAS. Not because of drawing style, but because the way they tell the stories.

You mention this movie quite often, yet I have never heard of it. When was it released? Did it ever have a series?

CONTRADICTION!!!!!! Well, I changed my mind, because I thought to myself: What if it were a stick figure movie, but the plot was so moving? So, I changed my mind, thinking, if the plot was awesome, I wouldn't care it was stick figures. So, sorry. I changed my mind.

    OBJECTION

a show can have an amazing plot, but be crappily written. likewise, a show with a weaksauce plot can have amazingly fluid dialogue.

plot and well written... are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!
