    System v3.20

Post by Zezima on November 20th 2012, 3:43 am

TSC is now going to shift to a meritocracy government.

What this means is, pure and simple, you get what you earn. Want to become a staff member? Prove you deserve it. Be an unintelligible blight on all dignified social interaction? You've rightfully earned your banishment. It's all about proving your self-worth.

With this in mind, the way the hierarchy is set up is going to change. Instead of appointment by some anal retentive retard (see: me) sitting up on his throne, we're going to spread the community decision wealth and have staff positions open to application. Now of course this doesn't mean everyone who applies automatically gets accepted, like any real job the employer takes heavy consideration into who they're putting their investment in and expects to see not only valuable skills and assets, but a return on the investment of said resources.

This is all in the interest of neutrality and objectivity; it should be what you know, not who you know. And we can build a proper system around that principle.

As it stands, there will be three main tiers that will be operating TSC as a whole.

Administrators: What can you do to help manage/maintain a site in its entire running? What specific skills can you do that would benefit TSC and can you be trusted with the key to the site?

Moderators: Do you have a firm grasp of our rules, and what we do and don't accept from a user's conduct and behavior? Are you able to view a social situation objectively and decide fairly? Can you be trusted to be confident enough to execute firm judgment on your own without the need of admin consent? Are you active enough to monitor forum activity to be able to be the first one to notice changes?

Heroes: You can't necessarily apply for this position, it too is earned through annual nominations by the community. These users, although holding no forum authority over accounts in a direct sense, will be able to access the staff forum and discuss the site's policies and major decisions as it's been determined through the test of time and trust that their opinion holds weight and will be considered as much as any staff member's would. See them as the faux congress. If there ever should be a chatbox moderator, they would be the exception to appointment as they hold minimal power over users relative to their jurisdiction. Most, if not all users in the heroes group are the most immediate candidates for backup moderatorship should the need arise for any.

With all of this push towards fairness, it should be noted here that private contact with me will be limited to any subject that does not involve the site's decisions, to avoid any attempt to sway me politically for their own gain. If any mention of a decision or suggestion is to be made, it is to be made on the forum, in public. Any private suggestion will be met with immediate severance of contact and will not be tolerated.

As always, I'll be taking any questions, comments, suggestions and cookie briberies into consideration here.

As well, all applications will be posted here, no private applications allowed.

I approve of this idea. It's very fitting for what The Sonic Community is about and I think it will lead to a lot of good results and raise morale.

I am applying for an Admin or Moderator position.

Admin: I have a large background in cyber-security, which is really important in this day and age. I can also help with editing CSS layouts to your liking and upgrading the forum software to ensure that it is secure. Doing routine backups of the site as well as reading up on the latest systems that are implemented for running forums on.

Moderator: I have had experience as a chatbox moderator before, on other sites and have managed users in a somewhat fair manner. If I do something I usually have some reasoning behind it. I will work with you to make sure that this forum and the chatbox are a safe place for all.

    Moderator.

Post by Sketch Style on November 20th 2012, 6:24 pm

I will go ahead and apply for the moderator position, as I understand rules and conduct, now. I understand I wasn't the best at such in the before time, but I am prepared as of now. I understand that the rules must be taken seriously, and not abusively. Having such a power is a privilege, and not a right, so I understand there is no force of rules, due to silly stuff such as disagreements, and butt-hurt nature. Now, I will be ready to issue a warning, infraction, and even a ban if rules are broken, stretched, or taken lightly. Do note that I am not applying for this position just to have power, and force my way. That's just irresponsible, and immature. I also understand that I may not get this job, and I respect that I shouldn't go on a pity party, or tantrum fest if I don't get accepted. The only other reason I apply, is because I notice not a lot of members come on, and lack of authority can be a problem. I will state that I am in no position to leave unexpectedly. My hiatus is over now that I have my own PC, and am not busy. I do understand if I do end up becoming absent for a long period of time, I will accept a demotion, as its not fair to keep an absent employee. Now, don't take my history into effect, as I'm cooler headed now, and not willing to argue. I respect all members, and will enforce rules when needed, not on a whim. Thank you for reading, and I hope the best for this Community.

    ~Sincerely, Sketch Style.

P.S. The only reason I am not appying for the administrator position, is because I lack any skills to upkeep any problems, or any skills to spruce up the forum, so with such I have no need for the key to the site, and it isn't neccessary for you to grant me such.

    I approve of this system.

I'm not applying for a damn thing. Though of course if you were to choose me for a higher position I wouldn't cry.

Its almost sad that only three members have applied. (Not counting sarcasm) It may just end up leading to default hiring. :(

    Whelp, may as well.

I'll apply for the Moderator position. I've not really got any credentials other than modding a few forumotion forums in the past. I'm working on controlling my bitchiness, and I'd like to see how well I'd do in a position of some kind of authority. That's it, really.

Sure. Apply for mod, I shall.

I don't really know what else to say other than I've been one before on various other sites I am/was affiliated with.

That is all. May the force be strong, young cuke.

I'll go ahead and apply for the moderator position.

Why: Experience from being a moderator at another forum (Quable), I know what is and isn't accepted at TSC, and that I should not need to ask someone to confirm on whether I should ban someone, give a warning, and so on. I visit TSC daily, and will treat members in a fair way.

The Sushi is ready for use.

I'm not supposed to be online right now (that's why I've been offline for so bloody long), but I would take anything and uphold my duties with knightly honor when I get my main computer back. Need evidence? I have been an admin onthis site for over a year and have not abused my privileges there a single time. Furthermore, I have my own forum (Those of you from Sonic World should know the one) that never quite got off the runway, and I have admin abilities on a few of my cousin's forums (He has something along the lines of ten of them). I know the administration panel pretty well, too, and can be a bit strict when enforcing rules (Think Judge Dredd).
