I still like the idea of buying a chao that shows up either under your name somewhere or maybe placable in your sig, and you can buy fruits and other upgrades to make your chao better. Perfect way to have posters unload their rings, especially if colored chaos (like golden ones) cost way more, and it'll keep people buying items to upgrade their chao so they have the best.
