Post-Nuclear Policies Thread Empty Post-Nuclear Policies Thread

Post by Zez August 13th 2013, 4:23 pm

So, for those of you who may've noticed that I'm the only staff member (or at least Zezima is), this isn't necessarily out of some misplaced sense of wanton monocracy and/or autocracy.

Essentially, I'm asking you, the people, how should moderators, and eventual administrators, be appointed to their position?

This is a serious thread; any and all facetious comments will be deleted forthwith.

A loyal user who has been here a while, regularly posts stuff that's worth reading, fully understands the rules, and can still determine a solution on even the most unusual cases.

Eh ... everybody who's posted in this thread ... until the site gets back on its feet, though, this seems kind of pointless, considering our userbase at the moment.

These positions should be reserved for people who show great judgement towards the types of social situations commonly found in these forums and can find the right balance between not being too hesitant to act or too rash jumping in. They need to fully understand all of the rules, but also show common sense as well when approaching a situation. They should never needlessly antagonize or patronize users, or otherwise encourage the kind of trouble they're responsible for moderating. The moderators should also be fairly active and willing to put the work in to check through the sub-forums occasionally to watch and catalog any potential situations unfolding and manage basic forum maintenance. Administrators should have good knowledge of coding and administrative actions, and they need to be very trustworthy regarding the overall goodwill of the forum.

As of now though, there's no rush to get a full staff team in place. We should probably focus on getting a core base of staff which is very trustworthy and overqualified, and move from there. At least, those are my thoughts on the matter.

It doesn't really matter. If Zezima is doing the picking I trust his judgement for the most part.
