Worst Book You Had To Read For School?

For me, Tangerine and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Tangerine was just horrible with a terrible message,
'Hey kids, mis behave and disobey and be a ***** to your caring protective mother, and ruin your brothers life, because your poor friends are more important!'

To Kill A Mocking Bird? Ugh.

To Kill a Mockingbird was overemphasized. We read it once in middle school and again early on in high school. It's annoyingly simple, and I got the impression that it was only taught because it was a solid anti-racist American novel.

The characters are divided in binary fashion into "good, innocent, and tolerant" and "bigoted, short-sighted, and stupid." There was never a sense that racism and prejudice is something *everyone* partakes in to some degree. Characters who are good are heaped with good qualities and nothing else, and the opposite goes for those who are bad.

Teacher's Funeral.
It was pretentious, unfunny, and downright boring. It had a pretty promising premise, but the characters had little to no personality. It constantly emphasized the fact that it was a "comedy", but the jokes mainly relied on the gross-out detail of a location, in a bland matter. Other than that, there seemed to be no notable hilarities, if any at all.

I only remember not liking Great Gatsby. I forget exactly how I got out of reading it...

You didn't find a single book you read good? Surely you were forced to read at least one good book.

I really enjoyed reading a book called White Fang in 9th grade.

A Wind in the Willows, the Chosen, My Antonia, the list goes on....

I can't remember any particularly bad book, but I might have repressed some.

White Fang was my favorite. I read it just recently, though, it wasn't for school.

The Old Man and the Sea. Its literally 90 pages of an old man catching a big fish.

And the worst book I had to read was about how the food industry was pushing poisoned goods on their customers on a personal scale and the direction society took towards surface discrimination. Can't remember the name of it but it had to do with some green eggs and ham for the majority of its context.

That honor would probably have to go to either Pinocchio's Quest or the Mr. Pipes books.

I was in Advanced Placement English, so I had to endure Pride and Prejudice. Thick, pretentious, and insanely difficult to decipher.

lolwut. I read it no problem and thought it was actually good.

It was some book about a black lady who couldn't speak right and kept getting abused by her husband and seeking a new one.

Please don't make fun, but I got stuck having to listen to the teacher read Twilight when it was new. (though I don't remember any of it much.)

The Most Dangerous Game is simply too boring for me to enjoy. Also anything by Shakespeare. It was just too long and tiring. Most people are gonna disagree with me on Shakespeare but it was just too boring to read.
