July 30th 2014, 2:20 pm by Sketch Style I've not seen anyone post about this around here, if I'm wrong let me know, but this is still big news amongst the Sonic fandom. Now, we have Sonic Boom with its game series, and TV series, and another game soon to be added to the franchise. Now we have this:

For those wanting to avoid the article, to which I don't blame you, here:
- Spoiler:
Sonic the Hedgehog game is finally having its own movie adaptation. Sony Pictures and Sega are working together to develop the classic video game film.
Metal Gear, Angry Birds, Heavy Rain, Rollercoaster Tycoon are amongst the video games under Sony Pictures, however only Metal Gear Solid has been actively in talks for a movie adaptation.
Hanna Minghella, Sony Pictures production president claims that, "There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog."
The proposed Sonic The Hedgehog game movie adaptation is reportedly going to be a "live-action/CGI hybrid," which will follow most of its story from the games, having Dr. Eggman as his arch enemy.
It is speculated that Dr. Eggman will be played by a human actor while Sonic is animated. The film is still in its early development thus, no casting has been announced yet.
Marza, a subsidiary of Sega responsile for the animated Sonic short-subject Night of the Werehog, will also be producing the planned film. Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, Upright Citizens Brigade LA alumni are hired to pen the script.
"Along with our wonderful creative partners at Marza, we're looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before," Hannah Minghella said.
Sonic The Hedgehog game movie adaptation signals Sony's plans of a global theatrical release with the fact that they're calling it a "hybrid" film. However, at this stage it's too early to tell if the film could actually make it to the silver screen.
What do you think Kpopstarz readers, would Angry Birds, Metal Gear and Heavy Rain follow Sonic The Hedgehog game movie adaptation?
This sounds like it's going to be a bigger budget version of the YouTube fan-film done not long ago.

Regardless, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but what do you think? | |
