Without any Rings or Chaos Emeralds, does anyone else agree that Sonic's theoretical top speed is rounded to be 1,400 MPH considering 700MPH is rounded to be the speed of sound?

well mach 1 is the speed of sound and mach 2 is the speed of most modern jet aircraft. And if the roadrunner can outrun two f-22 raptors and sonic goes faster *hopefully* then i would say 1,400

No way! Sonic can't run THAT fast I don't think, I've always thought his top speed is like 760 mph (or whatever the speed of sound is), but hey, I could be wrong.

In Sonic Underground, Robotnik gets a radar gun on him and clocks Sonic running at 500 MPH, and states he was running at "half speed", thus the conclusion would be that his top speed in that instance would be 1,000 MPH. In any case, I think you mean SUPER Sonic, Gamma.

Actually, Mach 1 breaks the sound barrier as well. As well as any other speed above or equal to Mach 1 at the proper given conditions taken into account.

It's always been said that Sonic runs at the speed of sound. I'd assume that would be a speed he can obtain by running normally.

He runs at mach 1 normally. I'd guess that he probably could run faster if he pushed himself, but that's what he's normally depicted at running "casually" if you know what I mean. Super Sonic can go above Mach 2 most likely, and Hyper Sonic can go to somewhere along Mach 5 most likely.

I'd still be more supportive of the speed of sound that Mach 2, but it's not impossible that Sonic would eventually reach Mach 2, and perhaps even higher.

so he is in the range of 3,840-7,680 mph
