Is Halo over-rated?

I don't know but I like it

Possibly one of the most overrated games of this decade, it is a pretty good game, but the media and college fratboys made out to be the second coming.

Awesome game, with an awesome rep, seems fair to me.

Just another FPS. I don't see what the big deal is.

It started the flood of FPS, it was one of the first GREAT Person shooters ever!

The first great FPS games were made in the early 90s.

Anyway. I'd rather not call it overrated as it seems the word overrated is overrated. It's a functional game, it can be fun. Just don't play online matchmaking. The people you meet there are just horrible.

The graphics are decent, the enemies are smart enough, you get a decent array of weapons.

My main issue is the lack of violence. If I buy an M-rated game with "blood and gore" and "violence" on the back of it, I expect alot. Not maybe a little splat of blood when I shoot a guy. I want to see Gears of War blood. Not necessarily the same amount of overkill but at least a realistic amount of it.

To make matters worse, that "decent array of weapons" totally sucks. What good is a shotgun when I need to get close enough to do a melee attack that would do the same amount of damage? What use is a grenade that simply inconveniances enemies rather than killing them? Why would I even consider using a machine gun when I can take on six guys with a rediculously cheap sword and come out on top?

It is pretty overrated.

I haven't played it before. I don't really want to either.

Halo sucks a big chode.....it just plain sucks, and it's not even good...as I've been saying.

I think Halo is a great game and all the publicity its getting is well-deserved

FPS had been going strong for almost a decade on computers by then.

I think Halo's popularity earned itself, as stated FPS games were in boom when the franchise had started

I don't exactly understand how Halo can be over rated.

Well, I guess people were more sensitive back then and I don't think they could change the rating after the original rating has been posted.

I think that Halo is an O.K. sort of game, and, although it may not be as good value for money as it should be, it is still a very good game to play, and it has earned its publicity (although Halo might not be the best shooter game in its genre).

Exactly, also another FPS that spawn more of them that try to mimic it in as many ways as possible without it becoming a rip-off.

But Halo was one of the first FPS games to be launched, and one of the ones with the most customization options.

I love Halo, always have.

And I don't care what anyone says about it.

I love Halo. But that's not going to stop me from saying, yeah, I think it is a bit overrated. Just like CoD (which is even more so).

Sure it's a fun game, and I get excited when a new entry comes out, but for crying out loud...it is not "EPIC PWNAGE, "DABESTGAMEVAR, or "ZOMGEPICNESSGIVEN FORM."

And on the flipside it's not "ZOMGHALOSUXXORS," "WORSTGAMEEVAH," or "ONLYTHEFANBOIZLIKEIT."

It's stupid people like that that make Halo overrated.

I think it's over-rated in an under-rated kind of way..

People always say "It's over-rated, So I'm not going to play it." Then they miss out on a really great series.

I've been a Halo fan since the first Halo game, I own all games and there special Collectors/Legendary editions, but people I know in real life tell they don't like Halo cause it's over-rated, yet when I let them play Halo 3 on my 360, they swiftly change they're minds, like my dad, the suborn hard a$$ who only plays Killzone (Not a bad game, but it gets boring over time..), now Halo 3 is one of his favorite games.

I think if the fan base wasn't so quick to bash people for saying things about it, more people would actually play it.

So I think a lot of people under-rate it because they think it's over-rated.

I'll keep saying this until I die.

A game being overrated DOES NOT mean that it's a bad game. And people need to stop saying every game they don't like is overrated.

No, overrated means that people hype up the game to a point where everyone and their brother think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Examples of overrated games:

Super Mario 64
The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Super Mario Bros.
Halo
Call Of Duty
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
Sonic Adventure/2

They are all good games in their own rights, but they've been hyped up to a point where everyone thinks they're either downright awesome or god-awful.

Being overrated doesn't mean it's a bad game. Usually it means it's a good game, but people say it's better than good.

We never said that Halo was a bad game. In fact, I believe to this day it's one of the best shooter series on the market now.

And I don't think Halo is overrated, it deserves a lot of the praise that it gets.
