Um. I'd pick sometimes but I don't feel like providing examples or explaining anything right now.

As in...remakes? Or re-issues on special edition DVD or something?
There have been good remakes in the past ("Scarface" and "The Thing") and a slew of terrible remakes ("The Wicker Man," "House of Wax," and I hear there's going to be a remake of "Conan" and "Bride of Frankenstein" coming soon). The problem is that Hollywood and most other entertainment institutions are hell-bent on the idea that if it worked before, it'll work again, and bugger all to new and risky ideas. They don't want a risk, they want a profit.

Yes.
Movies: I've seen multiple foreign films remade as horrible American films. It really gives our country a bad name. When Abre Los Ojos came out, Tom Cruise saw it, and then bought the rights to it as soon as the credits started to roll in the theater. His remake, Vanilla Sky, was nothing compared to the original. Keep in mind, they both find out that they are currently only dreaming, and they must jump off of the buildings to wake up.
Lets have a video comparison:
Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes)
Please, skip to 7:24.
Vanilla Sky
Games: Sonic Next-gen. I rest my case.
