I've been wondering this since the day I played Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and saw the lack of cutscene.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, if you start off as Sonic/ and Tails, you get a cutscene of Sonic's arrival on the island.
In Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic doesn't get a cutscene of his arrival in Mushroom Hill. Instead, it's Knuckles who gets one, and shows him chasing the EggRobo after being bombed.
Those sparked my curiousity, as when you play Sonic 3 and Knuckles, said cutscene is removed, and is instead replaced by Sonic 3's levels, without any reason as to WHY he was there. This made me wonder if Mushroom Hill, before the games became seperate, was instead assigned to be Knuckles' starting stage, as an answer to Sonic's Angel Island.
Your thoughts?
