Yeah, I've played a little of it before. I found it a bit simplistic, but a wonderful game overall.

A lot of sites have more offers for paying members than non-paying members. Take POTC, which doesn't let non-paying members create a guild, buy anything larger than a light sloop or galleon, or advance in level beyond LV11.
And don't even get me started on WOW (which requires you to pay to play the game, unless you do free trial).

While a very geeky game, it is easily the best free MMO...well, ever, in my opinion. I used to play often, but now I only play to nerd out with my friend.
