I am in the process of torrenting Minecraft because I'm cheap and don't feel like paying for an alpha build.

Notch doesn't need more money if he's not going to work on it leaving it in the Alpha

And hell Notch needs money if he made an Alpha build that plays better than a full release then he deserves everything.

I don't know the game, Minecraft, but I just love pirates in general.

Ninjas > Pirates.

Ninjas pay for their games.

But I downloaded the PC version of FF7 for free, so that makes me half pirate and half ninja.

With CD's that I love, I'll buy them.... With software that's good priced, and worth its money, I'll buy it....

A lot of people from other countries (like Brazil and Indonesia) resort to pirating games since they’re either too expensive or unavailable in their current location.

Pirating is wrong.
Developers work so hard to create the content you're using. They deserve something in return.
You can order almost anything you want online... sure it may take a month to get to you (at the most) but you're doing it legally. The unavailability of the items close to your location is no excuse :P

This is not about video pirating.

This is about pirating, as in sailing a ship, with an outfit and a captain's hat.

I assumed this was about multimedia pirating.. i.e freely downloading material you'd otherwise be required to pay for. :)

And, anyway, Jmh mentioned ninjas in there. So it was obvious that I might end up getting confused somewhere along the line. So please don't infer that I am retarded in future.

I'm a pirate/ninja hybrid if a ninja pays for his software. By this, I mean that a whole lot of our music was not bought, and we've probably burned a lot of games since the PSX days, sometimes legitimately (I lost a game under my bed once and it got scratched into oblivion. My dad, however, was able to recover the game data onto the computer after about 10-20 tries and from there he could burn it). We mostly use it to back up games or download abandon-ware(such as most Sega Dreamcast, PSX, Sega CD, etc.), but we also use it like a $2 rental so I can figure out what games a like and attempt to not spend our money on games which are badly made or extremely short with no replay value. Too bad it still doesn't save me from impulse buying and holiday gifts... damn Sonic 06 and plenty of $10-$30 titles I've heavily disliked...

On the bright side, we haven't pirated Photoshop like almost everyone else on the internet. Also, I have about a 30 game library of 360 games and a 40 game library of PS2 games we do own, plus the eight or so games I got on the Wii until I gave up on it(Colors and SMG2 are nearly the only things I've gotten for it since 2008), plus however many games I have for the DS, PSP, the many Gameboys, Gamecube, PSX, Dreamcast, Xbox, and PC.
