Handheld Future
Iizuka stated that 2012 will be a fresh start for Sonic, but he didn't say anything about the handheld future for Sonic.... So what do you think the future for the handheld for Sonic?

Right.
Hopefully something more akin to the Advance series.

There is none if Sonic Team continues at this rate. Hopefully a Sonic Rush 3 though. That's one of Sonic's good adventures to be honest.

Re: Handheld Future
Well, it's not entirely Sonic Team that makes the handheld games; it's Dimps, I think. And with that in mind, I think that they'd either make handheld versions of the console games (Sonic Colors DS or Sonic Generations 3DS, for example), or make their own handheld spin-offs, like Advance or Rush.

Yes, Dimps handles the handhelds and Sonic 4 series.
Whatever they go with for the handheld series now, it won't have sprites.

I was really looking forward to Generation 3DS, because I thought we we're getting away from 2D and stepping into at least handheld 2.5D. But that didn't happen.

Man, 3DS Generations is one of the most disappointing games I've played. It could have been so good.

All the disappointment in the world comes from every new morning at Dimps.

Re: Handheld Future
I thought all the Sonic games Dimps made until Generations 3DS were good, if not great. I was actually thinking that Dimps was more focused on Episode 2 than Generations 3DS, but that's just my own personal speculation.

You're probably right.

Re: Handheld Future
Idea for a new Sonic handheld game:
Sonic is on an adventure or something, Eggman comes in and says "oh em gee i just collected teh chaos emralds now go find them!"
Sonic will- actually no, let's make it a good character. Big the Cat will go to some place and collect the emeralds by progressing through over 50 stages that utilize the same great fishing gameplay found in Sonic Adventure.
The gameplay will of course be updated:
Every five failed attempts to catch a fish will break Big's fishing rod, he'll then have to cash out 100-99,999 rings that can only be collected by waiting one minute per ring. Once all the Chaos emeralds are collected Big will acquire the "Super Rod" and will have to have an amazing fish-off with newly professional fisher Eggman. This battle will of course be impossible to win under any circumstances.
So, what do you guys think? I'll go start the petition right now!

Re: Handheld Future
I think that's a perfectly reasonable amount for the worst fishing rod in the game. It might even be a bit too low...

No one is going to force you to buy the game, you'll just be missing out on game of the year.

Re: Handheld Future
This is going to be on the 3DS of course, you'll use the touch screen to control your fishing rod. Remember, for challenge the touch screen will only respond to about half of your attempts.

Re: Handheld Future
With the exception of the Sonic Rush series (and the 3DS Generations which was pretty good), I completely agree that Dimps is incompatible. Sonic 4 is nothing more than a hash-up; in my opinion, the Rush series is a better renovation of the older games with modern Sonic. No need to relive the classics with a modern Sonic when you have a successful 2D modern Sonic proper for this age.

Big the Cat's Wild Fishing Adventure will not only be a blast but change the face of the modern handheld era.
