The newest Pokemon spinoff has hit the shelves. This pokemon meets Final Fantasy Tactics game is interesting. I've recently bought it, and I'm having a lot of fun playing it.

I've been unsure if I want to get it. The idea of an old world Pokemon game sounds really cool, but it would depend on how the story is.

Well so far, and I've only played about an hour into the game, the plot seems to be that the Ransei Region is engulfed in the flames of war. Legend has it that if a warlord conquers and controls all of the countries in the region, the Legendary Pokemon that created the world will appear before him. From what I've read, the game is based off of Nobunaga's Ambition (might not be the correct title).

Mmmh. Pokemon, Final Fantasy. Both are hit and miss, both have aged poorly. But I'm still curious about what this could actually play like. What exactly does it take from the two, Chaos?

The map grid style of play is like Tactics. you select which of the warriors and their pokemon partner you are going to send into a battle. each pokemon has a different movement range, its type determines what their can pass though, for example, Fire types can walk through lave and fire. The pokemon has one move that gets a power increase as the pokemon gets stronger. The attacks have a different range to them (Ember hits a target that is one space away, Quick Attack hits an adjacent target, Vine Whip hits 3 spaces, in front and to the sides). The Warriors themselves have special skills that can be activated in battle, ranging from stat increase to healing to increased chance of causing a status affect.Master Mly Hushimo wrote:Mmmh. With all the mention of similarities, I'm wondering if I should just stick with Disgaea 4. Once a game is so similar to so many things it's just copy-paste gameplay with a new story. I don't give a crap about a Pokemon style story. I'd much prefer demons and comedy and perversion like in Disgaea, if it'd basically be a ripoff of that and many other tile/turn-based fighters.
