Except that Jedi do wear black cloaks, and some can even do lightning. From my understanding, the Dark Side has more raw power, is more direct and physical, but the light side has more focus and understanding.

Well trained Jedi are capable of almost anything the Sith can do, they're just aware of the consequences and know better.
The Dark Side is only stronger at first, as Jedi grow stronger, they develop a deeper understanding of the Force and themselves, but as Sith grow stronger they lose control and become dependent on their hatred like a drug.

By pointing out why Jedi do hate, we see the flaws of Sith doing hate, which relates to the Dark Side, which speaks of the minor benefits and overall flaws of it, and thus explaining why hate isn't a good thing.
