Evil or Hero?

Is Shadow evil, then good, then anti-hero, then hero, then neutrally evil, then neutrally hero, then evil again? Where does Shadow ultimately stand in all this confusion?

You forgot, Shadow was good, then programmed evil, then remembered Maria's wish and went back to good, then got amensia and became neutral, then went hero, then went anti hero, then went hero, and that's about it. I don't think he was evil in the Rival series, just working to help Eggman, a close friend I guess, so I wouldn't say he went evil. And I don't know his situation in SC.

He's more neutral than anything else, I mean he only chooses to do things for him self.

I'd go with mercenary..

Shadow does nothing for money. So how can he be a mercenary?

Well nowadays, he'll do good things a lot, just not quiet the way Sonic would.

He's in the middle. It would explain why he still has respect for Dr. Eggman.

I say he;

SA2 ~ Evil because he was mad

SA2 (Ending) ~ Absolute Hero

Heroes ~ Neutral

Shadow ~ Neutrally Evil

SNG ~ Hero


I like him best as a neutral hero.

I think he is a hero, he sorta became one when he remenberd his promise to Maria, and you know how Shadow wants to keep his promise to Maria.

Yes. Although not in the same way. When speaking with Eggman he doesn't try his hardest to hide it.

i'd go with mercenary because don't non-government contractors fight for whichever side they feel like?

They fight for what ever side pays'em the most, So you could just say that Shadow's neutral.

Yes, but Gerald was more like his father than Black Doom, considering he probably created the form and taught him everything.
