These 3 all have something in common; they are all treasure hunters in some shape or form.

A possible storyline could be that Eggman tries to steal the Master Emerald again and tries to take it to the Space Colony Arc for some evil plan, but when leaving Earth's atmosphere he accidentally drops it with the force of impact shattering the Emerald in millions of pieces.
Knuckles obviously starts the search for the pieces immediately, somehow Fang and Rouge get word of what has happened and set off to get the pieces for themselves, Eggman then once again sets his sights on the chaos emeralds which will bring up the need for Knuckles to find them as well and well Fang and Rouge are always looking for them.
Once all the pieces have been found Eggman steals the Master Emerald and then successfully takes it to the Space Colony Arc and unleashes a beast of some sort similar to Biolizard and given a character has collected all the Chaos Emeralds the final boss battle will begin which defeating would enable Super Forms to be unlocked in any level providing certain conditions are met.
