Re: Forza 3
I stopped talking about it like 3 days ago... anyways, since you insist.
Forza Motorsport 3 will have over 400 cars, interior views for everyone, please they will all be customizable and tunable, 100+ tracks, will support 900 degree rotation wheels with H pattern shifter and clutch(Although only the limited addition Fanatic wheels support these features, and cost an excessive amount of money), improved AI, physics, damage, livery editor, and graphics redone from FM2(10x the polygons they say), extra assists so people who can't drive(I can't seem to find the right wording ) will be able to play, and will have more racing modes, including(but not limited to) Circuit, Oval, Drag, Drift and Timed Events, and there will also give you more control over rules for online races.
Everything is summarized from what they've released on their site. Lots of features still probably have yet to be announced though, as it is scheduled to be released on the 27th of October.
For those of you who think pictures are worth a thousand words:

Pretty good, wouldn't you say?
And there's still 3-4 months left to tweak everything.

In some, or rather, most instances the Forza version was more appealing than the real life photograph.

Re: Forza 3
hopefully they didnt spend too much time on graphics instead of making the actual game.
But anyway I'd buy it if it gets good reveiws and it's fun if anything I want to be able to choose it over my Gran turismo 4 game. And THAT will require some 6 out of 3 stars gameplay

Re: Forza 3
No, they built the entire game up from scratch, meaning better physics. Tire flex ftw. Also, unlike in Forza 2, the car can end up upside down, instead of the damned wobble/floating that happened if you ended up high into the air. Plus it supposed to support clutch and also has Drag, Drifting, Point to Point, and circuit racing(announced so far), and the Career is supposed to change to give you the type of races you like, i.e. if you never do endurance races, you won't get them often. If you do drift events, you get more drift events, and so on. Then, if you stop Drifting and decide to Drag a lot, drifting events will start to show left often and drag will show more. At least, that's how it should work.
Also, imo, I started playing Forza Motorsport 2, and never looked back at GT4. It just isn't as fun imo. Plus I like damage and the challenge it brings, The livery editor, the tuning and upgrades, the choice of cars, the controller(Oh god, analog throttle and brake feels much better), and online.

Re: Forza 3
They released a new pitpass report which mentioned a bunch of stuff. It's over 30 minutes long though, so if you don't have(or don't want to take) the time to listen it, here's a text summary made by Sn0man360.
Also, In case anyone wanted to know the themes that played in the trailers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtbVdsYQ5FQ&fmt=18
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj6SO_yKMe8&fmt=18
They may not sound familar at first though, since they used parts from the middle/ends of the songs, not the very beginnings.

Disclaimer: This is NOT word for word. This is notes. If I misrepresent something, someone else can fix it in a reply. This is just for those that like to read instead of listen. These are not the EXACT WORDS of Turn10, this is just what I heard. Don't take this as gospel.
1.) You can export video and it will put up a 720p wmv file on forzamotorsport.net
2.) Auto-braking follows the braking line for its braking. You just steer and gas now. They said multiple times that auto-braking is NOT as fast as someone who brakes on their own. It just makes you more consistent.
3.) You get infinite rewinds per race. using time rewind will mark your lap time as "uncertified" along with anytime there is drafting in the same race.
4.) Lap times listed on the leader boards will be listed as "certified" first and then "uncertified. So the worst certified time will be above the fastest uncertified race.
5.) There is now a clutch button, and it is on the left shoulder button on the controller. Hold button, clutch is engaged. Then you shift, then let off of the clutch. There is a missed shift if you don't hit it right. You can damage the car if you miss a shift with sim damage on. The clutch pedal mode is faster than without.
6.) There is now a.) automatic b.) manual and c.) manual + clutch.
7.) In multiplayer there is no rewind, however there is auto-braking. It can be turned off like any other assist.
8.) Auto-upgrade system. "generally useful script" that adds parts to a car based on top of the class. So pick A class, say auto-upgrade, and it will upgrade the car to the PI at the top of that class. If you can't afford all the upgrades for the top of A, it will get you as close as it can then stop.
9.) Auto-upgrade does NOT auto-tune the car. You must tune the car yourself still.
10.) Multiplayer is now like Halo3 and Call of Duty 4 party type of system now is how multiplayer works in FM3. Meaning there will be prebuilt game types that you can join publicly with your party, or you can just build your own private server with exactly your specifications. Things like vote to kick someone, vote to skip a track on these public servers.
11.) Examples of how public servers will be are class and type. ie C class drag, B class drift, A class road racing etc.
12.) They monitor our private matches and if a lot of people are playing a certain setup, they can make a new server based on those settings for the public server list.
13.) All multiplayer modes give you credits. There is no more career or exhibition race. If you race on forza3 in multiplayer (even like cat and mouse) you get credits.
14.) New modes not just racing. Tag mode where you tag someone they are it. There is smear the *** where someone is it, and they have to be tagged for points. There is also army/virus/zombie tag. There is now elimination mode. Finally there is now cat and mouse mode. It really sounds like they just swiped the halo setup and made it for cars.
15.) Scoring on time or drift or damage or whatever.
16.) Starting grid based on PI, gamer-score, car type etc.
17.) Delay start, let players have a 5 second lag between starts for instance.
18.) All cars in FM3 get a Performance Index (PI System). The race-cars classes are now part of the other cars classes. For example you can upgrade your car up to the R classes and through them as well. Some R class cars now have upgrades that can be done to them as well.
19.) Pi is now calculated on the ability of the car and not the ability of the AI to drive it. In FM2, to calculate PI they had the AI calculated what time it could get with each car. This had 1 flaw that the AI can not drive cars. Usually lots of power and poor tires tripped up the AI. Now in FM3, the capability of the car is represented. They hope (fingers crossed) this is more accurate of the cars potential.
"A virtual track that the system looks at. Literally looks at the cars maximum speed through each turn would be and tries to achieve that speed on every straightaway. The cars accelerate, brake, and corners with maximum perfect friction. The only way a player would be able to achieve that same performance would be to drive the car perfectly."
20.) Power-train swaps now split into engine and drivetrain swaps.
21.) Can flip cars on multiplayer. Just jostle the left stick back and forth and you can rock the car back onto its wheels.
22.) This was mentioned but is NOT confirmed yet. Every weekday (5 days a week) from now until launch 1 new car will be revealed with pictures and a little write up.
Also, In case anyone wanted to know the themes that played in the trailers:

Re: Forza 3
I feel it's about time to revive this thread, because the demo is coming out in the next 3 or so hours most likely to Xbox Live(for gold accounts only, because Microsoft are like that).
Also, a video of Fujimi Kaido, a track returning from the first forza with all sorts of updates and a whole new section of track almost making it two times longer than before I think, and allowing it to be driven as a new circuit or the original P2P track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ-Oh2OJF8A
PS it involves people who know how to drift in real life, drifting.
Also, here's a few more videos if you want to watch them:

A lap/race around Sedona Raceway

Announcing the Bugatti Veyron, and showing some of how they put it in the game.

Demo is up... and oh my god, is it great. 2x better than Forza 2. Only thing that sucks is it's 5 cars, track, 2 laps, and no online. Kind of weak in that way... but I want the final game that much more now.

I would get both of them if I could, but I don't own a PS3. Damn Wii ate that money when we still had it. Please make sure to not to compare and vs. them though, okay. Just look at the GT forums, the Forza forums, or the first 10 comments of any youtube video involving GT, FM, or NFS. I see enough of it.

Re: Forza 3
I got the game, and I'm loving it. I'm still pretty early into it, but It's just great to be able to actually use my (soon to be) real car in a racing game. It's a red 1989 Pontiac Firebird. Well, they actually have the '87 Trans Am, but other than different rims, a different steering wheel, a slightly different hood, and a few extra features you can't see(such as engine and slight interior changes maybe), but they're pretty much the same car. The Trans Am is the higher class Firebird, basically.
Edit: Made my own video!
And another.

Yeah, this game is awesome. Great graphics, great cars, tracks, etc. Really realistic, but.. Forza 1 and 2 is still good.
