A study concluded that fish will not follow an irrational leader. However, if there are two irrational leaders, they will follow. A human study confirmed this claim. When one person crossed the street at an in-appropriate time, no one followed. When two people crossed the street, the influence spread to nearly every other person waiting to cross the street.

Oh, how far we've come. coolguy

The problem with the human brain (and indeed all parts of the human body.) is that it (they) is (are) built with modified versions of the same ancient blueprint. This fact accounts for all of our flaws, from our relative weakness that left us vulnerable to predators and stunted our advancemant so early on to our violent-mindedness that stunts our advancement to this very day. For we as a species to advance to a state of perfection, we need to almost completely annihilate this blueprint and embody ourselves as something else. So-called moralistic objections to such ideas are stupid, as the only moralistic thing to do would be to remake ourselves to save us from ourselves.

Peer pressure is just a flawed survival instinct that humans and fish have both received from a common ancestor, evolution isn't perfect, we're still working on it.

This seems something much more similar within every species on the planet though. This is more in terms of "Following the pack." When one person is doing an action, not every person is going to do it. But once they see multiple people do the same action, they do it as well to follow and fit in.
