Re: Pluto
I find it fitting that something named after a cartoon dog be rejected from planet-hood.

I'm fairly certain I know what I read in... gee, I dunno Discover magazine? Naw, they're buncha crock heads around there that have nothing to do with Science, Astronomy and the history thereof, right?

You win this time, reality....Wikipedia wrote:The name was announced on May 1, 1930.[27] Upon the announcement, Madan gave Venetia five pounds as a reward.[27]
The name was soon embraced by wider culture. The Disney character Pluto, introduced in 1930, was named in the object's honour.[31]

Re: Pluto
It's rather ironic that this topic was created. I actually had a small discussion about the such with another person recently. I still believe that Pluto is a planet. Though it is smaller than the other planets, it does have a moon, (I'm quite sure the name of it is Charon) and it does still orbit around the Sun, though in a much different orbit than the other planets within the Solar System. Just because its size is smaller then our Moon, doesn't mean that is should have been declassified as a planet.
