there is nothing wrong with the chat we have
but xat chat has way more features...
I still think if u changed the backgrounds it would seem alot more comfortable...
the xat chat's got web cam chat, games (multiplayer games), doodles a private chat system installed so that u could only chat with one person... and a whole load of smilies... plus its definitely faster than the current default forumotion chat with barley any lags...
if u don't like the chime u can mute it...
but this chats directly connected to the site so all the usernames, group colors and codes work on it...
whereas in the xat chat u can only have a moderator and an admin....
there are alot of advantages that come with the xat chat but also some disadvantages....
so i'm not voting yet.....
but xat chat has way more features...

My prob, iss that my browser blocker turns the page into a popup, and when I open it, it turns into a giant chatbox. If it's in the navbar, I could keep my blocker on.

Use two tabs. I don't have a problem going to read topics and coming back to the chatbox.

The only improvements I can think of are: i.e.; "Pianta is writing...", and a notification chime.

Having a 'Chatter is typing...' function is usually something on one-on-one chat sessions or IM's. But, I think sounds in the chat would also be something that could come in very handy - as long as there are ways to turn them off.
