This whole thing started a couple of weeks ago when Adam James, son of college legend and ESPN analyst Craig James, suffered a mild concussion. Basically, Leach put him in a room, alone, moved him, and left him alone again. The James family filed a complaint, and Leach was suspended for the Alamo Bowl Monday. The investigation found these allegations true, so during Leach's suspension, defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeal, who was hired two years ago after Tech lost to Oklahoma State 49-45, was named interim head coach and offensive coordinator since Leach held both. Just today, however, minutes before Leach and a Tech representative were to meet in a Lubbock court to discuss the suspension, they fired him. Leach's attorney said he will file a lawsuit against the university on his client's behalf, but I don't think that'll go in their favor. Leach was 84-43 at Tech in 10 seasons as head coach, was named 2008 Big 12 Coach of the Year, took Tech to a bowl game every year, including their Holiday Bowl upset over #4 California in 2004 and the 2006 Insight Bowl where the Red Raiders came back from a 41-7 deficit to win in OT 44-41 over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Tech also led the nation in passing six years and came in second four, including this season. Again, Ruffin McNeal will be the head coach and offensive and defensive coordinator for the Alamo Bowl this Saturday against Michigan State, who has several players suspended.
