Any of you get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (aka SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection)?
If so, what do you guys think about it?
I got it for 360 and I personally liked it, it's great to play Dynamite Headdy and Streets of Rage 3 again. Shinobi III kicks arse as well.
Missing some stuff that I would have liked to have seen though. Gunstar Heroes, Toejam and Earl (I know not "made by Sega," but every title for some reason involves Sega), Shadow Dancer, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Ofcourse, Sonic 3 & Knuckles has been in plenty of collections already though.
Achievements are a bit... on the downside. Too easy, getting one emerald in Sonic is... a joke. Really, they're all too easy. Funny enough, and now I feel terrible for it, cheats don't disable achievements. I feel terrible for trying it out with Sonic 1. Ofcourse I could have done it without cheats, but I was curious... and woah, just woah. Wouldn't getting all the Chaos Emeralds be more of an achievement? Most annoying achievement goes to Ecco The Tides of Time, eating 200 fish, easy to do, but just takes time.
Funny thing about these achievements is your progress for them carries over if you start a new game.
However, I can understand having a hard time with Super Thunder Blade (it's hectic, you gain more points) or Gain Ground (confusing game to me). However, I can't get Bonanza Bros. achievement. Guess I should play it on hard mode(?).
Oh, hardest achievement though goes to Mean Bean Machine. If you aren't good at Puyo Puyo like me, it'll take a while.
I didn't like the arcade extras outside of Shinobi that much. Guess I couldn't get into Fantasy Zone or Space Harrier. Congo Bongo, that's like Donkey Kong with a Q-Bert feeling, but didn't like it that much.
But the games emulation is excellent. Unfortunately, some sound effects are missing (for example in SoR3, the laugh that plays when Robot X first reveals himself, however they did keep his other laugh that plays when he hits you to the ground) and once there was black covering a portion of the screen when I was playing Dynamite Headdy that went away after the screen faded to another stage.
However, ultimately, this is a collection to not pass up in my honest opinion. Best deal I've economically seen in awhile. Over 40 games (don't forget Arcade unlockables) for approximately $30 USD is epic.
