Piko Piko versus Quills

Sonic is realistic in keeping the laws of physics...

Sonic is unrealistic in keeping the laws of nature...

Physics - Gravity, Atmosphere etc.,

Nature - Giant animalia talking and walking erect, etc.,

Why does Sonic always run away from the Piko Piko Hammer? Maybe he experienced a hit from that hammer one day and found out that it hurt like, well you know.

That hammer must be more powerful than what people think. When Sonic isn't charged up for his dashes, those quills aren't a big factor.

How do you know he'd enjoy it?

Maybe he wouldn't. But I laugh at the picture of seeing him giggle with glee while soaring in the air and then landing in a hole. Amy then yells "hole in 1" and Sonic comes running back to do it again.

Not if it were for comic relief purposes.

And I think it would make sense that the hammer wouldn't do much damage if it weren't for the person swinging it.

Amy is physically weak compared to a planet saving warriior. Besides, Sonic's spines protected him from bombs.

So why would he be afraid of Amy and her hammer?

But comic relief isn't a good answer in terms of the story. In terms of storywriting, it is of course true, but Sonic would not have actual fear to be comic relief. So no, Amy's hammer must be a threat to him, thus showing Amy is strong.
Yes, Sonic can go the speed of sound, but it's worthless with a girl who's nearly as fast and that it takes him some time to accelerate that high.

Proof that Amy can go over 500MPH?

So you're technically agreeing with me. Amy is a lot slower than Sonic and she keeps up because Sonic is being made to slow down by Sonic Team.
