Is It Illegal?

Can anyone just confirm if it's illegal to share your content with one friend? I put a post on the official EU PS3 Forum about maybe creating a system to help de-activate dead PS3's and gain your slots back.

All the replies have said it's illegal to do it and I could get banned from the PSN Network? Why?

Long story short, you can get banned for gamesharing. Think of it as similar to piracy.

Whoever you're sharing with hasn't paid for the license to play the game.

It may be illegal, but how's Sony going to know? Maybe you have two (or three) Playstations in seperate locations and would like to play your favorite downloaded games on them.

Unless someone's a real stick in the mud and reports you, Sony really can't do anything about it without proof. And even so, it's still within your right to upload those games on any 5 PS3s of your choosing.

Hell, the guys at YouChew trade gameshares regularly. Sony obviously doesn't take huge offense to this kind of thing.
