As long as Tails doesn't talk about sundresses and polka-dotted bags, we should be fine. Also, I never knew Smith had done such a wide array of voice work.

Nor did I, but he seems to be the perfect candidate to play Sonic. He sounds exactly like Sonic should.

Perhaps the voice directors could use the standards set in 1991-2000 as inspiration for the voice acting done now, in order to improve the overall quality of the game.

Ryan was the first "Official" voice of Sonic that I heard, and Jason sounded a little different, but in recent games his acting did improve (but the problem was he probably didn't have much to work with).
I'm playing Assassin's Creed II, and hearing the voice of Roger Smith as Ezio. I think this guy might have what it takes.
Also, there's been one or two topics on the Sega boards about Tails' VA being done by Kate Higgins (as if I needed a reminder that Tails is male and not female). Excuse me, why should that make a difference? Nancy Cartwright has been voicing Bart Simpson for a long time now.

Also, Jason was quite a good actor. He played Sonic quite well during his time.

I felt Jason started off sounding more goofy than cool, but really started getting the hang of it by SatSR.

I beat ACII as well. Roger Smith did good as Ezio but remember Ezio was Italian so he's obviously going to drastically change his voice for Sonic. I don't think it's anything to go off of. Here's some clips of Roger's Sonic voice.

It's just because he was always voiced by guys before (except in Sonic the Movie) and the guys have sounded much better than Palant, which suggests they're making a male voiced by a female when he's actually better voiced by a male. There's the logic that they'll have to keep changing VAs because only a young guy can voice Tails if they made it a guy, but meh.... so be it I say if it actually makes him seem male and good. Also, I think the creators think he needs to sound a lot younger than he actually does. Corey Bringas made him sound real smart and mature and I thought it was a great characerization and voice.
