Xbox Live?

Do you think the price is worth it? That article is a fairly accurate representation to how it can be deterring, as well as numerous comments.

I really don't think that's going to be that much of a problem, it's just 10 more dollars.

You should NEVER have to pay money to play with other people online

People give them crap for charging in the first place. What in God's name makes them think jacking up the price is a good idea? Oh yeah, all of the morons who are going to want to play the next twenty Call of Dutys on their crappy system.

I'll just continue to get them off online stores for sometimes under $40 when their on sale. The $50 is already a bit much though, and paying the price of a retail game to play other games online is a pretty stupid call on Microsoft's part, especially considering the state of the economy.

XBOX Live is quite good value, as despite the fact that you have to pay extra, it is a wonderful experience.

so... regular internet on computer is free
Playstation Network is free
Wii online is free

and Xbox360 is jacking up it's price to $50.... I think I see the reason why everyone is raging...

You've got a fair point, it's not the best value-for-money, but it's still worth paying the extra money. Believe me, I may not have a 360, but I have friends who do, and I've been on XBOX live, and I know it definitely is worth the extra $50.

Then you don't have to. Xbox Live Gold is a choice, sure you will not be able to play online, but some people don't do it. At E3 they announced there was 25 million members on Xbox Live, what happened to the other 15 million+ (360's userbase is 40 million+), some don't wanna pay for online. They don't have to either.

Yeah, fair point. It's just that a lot of people do game online, and it enhances the quality of the playing. You can also connect to friends and stuff. The price is good value, though.

I guess it is a fare price, but since i have a PS3(Not that i play online.) it just makes it seem too much, when i can be online for free.

You do get the quality of XBOX live for the extra money, though. As in, you get to play better and more games (online) than with PSN. I'm not talking about the quality of the online experience through other users; there are good and bad people on both; I'm just talking about playing better games online (with XBOX Live).

I think the current price and the price it will be changing to are fair to be honest, you get really good online multiplayer with no problems (have seen so many complain about PS3 online before) you get a whole lot of added additions on Xbox Live including avatar awards for completing certain achievements in games, the whole party chat, private chat and in game chat is really good, makes it great to meet new friends and keep in contact. The only thing I do have fault with it they charge for Xbox Live but still charge a big amount for avatar additions aswell, don't get me wrong alot of what they offer is brand names and that's great but it can become quite expensive when it comes to avatar items.
