Re: New Controller
The timing couldn't be worse. I'm sure people who just bought the new 360 will find this to be a nice slap in the face.
And as far as I can tell, they still haven't done anything about those pathetic joysticks.

I don't know if they improved the analog sticks in any functional way, but they definitely changed the sticks in some way, as the old sticks had those little notches, and I think the concave shape was slightly shallower on the current controllers. The fact that they finally fixed the crappy d-pads, but they were quite late in doing so. Also, there's the problem that many games are color coded to the old buttons, so the new color won't match.

Re: New Controller
My main issue with the joysitcks is that the material they're made out of falls apart after a year or two (if you play alot anyway). That's just a no.Super Racer Z wrote:Erazor wrote:The timing couldn't be worse. I'm sure people who just bought the new 360 will find this to be a nice slap in the face.

I do agree on the buttons though. It's a bit late in the consoles lifespan to make the new standard buttons shades of grey.

Re: New Controller
I'd rather buy a new game than buy a new controller.
$65? For a controller?
I'd buy a new game.

Re: New Controller
The new controller looks nice enough, but it's going to be a little harder to find the buttons now, due to it being awkward getting used to the new positions.
And I agree with Hayzer, $65 is not really reasonable for a new controller.

Re: New Controller
Controllers are just expensive in general, I'm pretty sure the current wireless controller costs $60 right now, but that will probably go down once this is released.

Huh, I've never had a problem myself. My buttons all feel fine and the analog sticks still feel good. In fact, the rubber on the left thumb sticks of my friends PS3 controllers are gone. Although my friend, in combination with his little and big brother, are quite hard on their gaming equipment so I wouldn't blame the controller. One of their 360 controllers has a broken LB as well. In contrast, I try and treat my stuff with care for the most part. The exception is that I've beaten most of my controllers around (which I've thankfully quit doing the last few years since I'd rather not break $50-$60 controllers) due to some bouts of gamer anger.
Surprisingly the only thing they have to show for it are lovely ding marks in the plastic of the left handle because of me smacking it into my loft bunk bed with my right hand, which completely hogs my room and makes it more cramped than I like while simultaneously serving no useful purpose to me since I don't care for the loft part. I'd rather have a futon bunk bed, which would fit in my room better and also allow me to have a couch in front of my 32" Emerson, but I digress.

Yeah... I think it will be quite useful for racing games, though.

Re: New Controller
I for one have had no problems with my 360 controllers except for my Black Wireless controller that I bought, if you hit up on the left stick then let it go back into position, it hangs in a very light upward position that causes it to register just the slightest bit, Say if I'm playing Halo 3, John walks forward by himself (VERY LIGHTLY) after holding up and releasing.
I find the that the rubber on the joysticks are nice, and grip to my thumbs nicely because of the nice little indent in the plastic under the rubber.
The controllers are nice and sturdy, though getting used to them at first is a bit weird.
But I like to think of the 360 controller as a GC and PS3 controller combined, I mean even some of the buttons are the same, X, Y, A, B, and the stick positions are that of a GC controller, then you have the shoulder buttons, Start, Select, and the home button, very closely related design of that of a PS3 or PS2 controller.
As for this new controller, I think it looks nice, but I'm not going to shell out $10 more than a regular wireless controller just cause it looks nice.
The steel D-Pad is cool looking and all, but they got rid of those little markers on the joysticks, some people aren't going to like that.

Re: New Controller
ehh it's got the looks and all and I'm sure they're counting on little kids begging their parents to not only get them Black op's but get them that controller with it, just because of the twisting D-Pad, but in my opinion, I wouldn't bother getting this, I rarely play fighting games, I mean aside from DOA 3 and Soul Calibur 2 that I have for the original X-box I don't have any proper fighting games the first one I'll be buying is the new Marvel Vs Capcom, in any case, I'm not the kinda guy who goes for all the fancy moves in fighting games so the D-pad is no biggy to me and the rest of it looks pretty much the same to me and taking the color of the buttons away just makes it seem kind of dull and stupid and it'll be hard for players to play by letter rather than colours when they have to do button mashing events on certain video games like Resident evil 5 or Sonic Unleashed.
And in my personal opinion getting rid of the colours could make playing X-box more boring than making it fun, maybe making a change in the shades of their original colours, like a darker red and a lighter blue and a darker green with a lighter yellow or somthing.
Both my black and white controllers have served me well in the lifetime I have had them helping me pwn noobs.

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. Taking away the colours just makes it look a bit blander, in my opinion. It's not going to attract any new demand for the controller.
