For the uneducated, that means games that sell a certain number of copies (I think it's something like 500,000 or 800,000) are sold for $20 instead of the usual $50.

Assuming this is true, how did Mario Super Sluggers sell enough copies to get this?

I guess, but it's not a very good Mario cash-in. The first one on the Gamecube is proof of that.
