MegaMan Legends 3 is CANCELLED!

Well, it's a day too late for me, but I thought I'd post the news about MegaMan Legends 3.

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.

So, thanks for nothing, Capcom! Only thing I'll buy from you are fighting games and Virtual Console Classics. And maybe MegaMan 11 for WiiWare.

But if this affects the MegaMan Comics from Archie Comics, maybe the comics will end, and MegaMan subscribers will have their choice of either a Free Sonic the Hedgehog Subscription or their money back.

Wow, first they cancel Megaman Universe, and now this?

Well, looks like Megaman fans will just have to wait for the next Starforce/Battle Network RPG game or the next NES rehash if they want to play a new Megaman game anytime soon. Or should I say not so new, if you know what I mean?

As for Capcom as a whole, their recent decisions with MvC3 and what they're doing with the DMC series suggests that they aren't exactly in the same shape as they were in the glory days (Arguably even worse than SEGA).

Well, considering we didn't get the Battle Network 1 remake, we won't be getting any new Battle Networks. Sheesh, it looks like only Rockman Online will be released in 2011, and that's for South Korea. And that's it, no other games.

I was hoping of getting it since I enjoyed the 1st megaman legends (haven't tried the 2nd one)
oh well...wonder what next megaman game will ever be though...sigh...probably another starforce or so..:(

Capcom's just been weighing the dollar heavier than their fans. They cancelled Universe, they won't release AAI2 outside of Japan and now they cancel Legends 3. Guess we can't expect X9 or Mega Man 11 at all now.

so basically megaman is dead to them due to cancelling the 2 megaman games that were in the table for release man now I wish inafune didn't leave the company ...profound sadness :( :( :(

My friend, Chiles, related the cancellation of Legends 3 to this.

A baby boy was born in a village, and everyone in the village loved him and wanted to see him succeed. Well, when he became of age, his first two quests brought great things to him as well as the village. The village leaders planned to send him on a third, but changed their minds and suffocated him to death instead.

(It's just liking a facebook page, becoming a servbot and sign something on the mml3 forum. The reason that they cancelled it was especially because a low number of people were a servbot.)

I hope they'll at least launch the e-shop prototype. :S

We may still get Megaman 11 if 10 really did well enough, but now that Inafune is gone, I think Capcom is just p-oed.

If I remember right, part of it has to do with Capcom thinking Megaman isn't popular in America and that Megaman is a character that can only appeal to Japanese players.

Hmm, if we take few to mean three, and we're at 10 now, that means 17 games in three years, which means we'll be getting three games this year, eight games in 2012, and eight in 2013.

Sounds reasonable.
