Just curious. As a lot of them came out this summer, and I enjoyed quite a few :)

    I saw:

Pirates of the Caribbean On Strangers Tide (was that considered a summer movie?)

T'was a good movie, not my favorite pirates, most of it was pretty boring actually... Wait, take that back. Movie was bad. Johnny Deep made me believe the movie didn't suck.

    (Spoiler)
So what happened to the priest at the end anyways? Did the mermaid (Syrena)eat him at the end, after all that? I recall them saying being kissed by a mermaid allows you to survive underwater, but the characters said that was an old myth, did he live happily ever after with
    (Spoilers)

Transformers 3: Dark of The Moon.

Movie was decent. Although in my honest opinion, Megan Fox or GTFO :D. The whole plot was predictable honestly

    (Spoiler)
Did they honestly expect us to believe the Autobots left mid-way through the movie, and leave the humans to fight the Decepticons all by themselves for the last hour or so? Really? Also, what's with every good guys almost dying and then getting saved at the last second? Really, Oh hey, Bumblebee is going to die! Oh wait, he got saved. Oh no! Optimus Prime is going to die! Oh wait, he got saved. Hopefully, since Megatron is dead, this will be the last transformers.
    (Spoilers)

Really hated Rosie Huntington, so much. Terrible actress, I still rather enjoy watching Shia Labeouf.

    Aliens and Cowboys.

Good movie, really enjoyed it. The plot was good, even though it confused me at times

    (spoilers)
If the alien gun hand thing comes off when you stop thinking, why did Jake still have it on when he became conscious? Surly he couldn't think while unconscious. Second, how did the alien he got it from take it off, while moving and performing a probe? Thirdly, all those dead aliens clearly not thinking had wrist guns on them, that are clearly more effect than bullets and arrows? Why not grab them off the corpse? It would have made the Invasion/attack much easier!
    (spoilers)

The Movie was just enjoyable and made me laugh countless times.

So, Community, how many films, if any, did you watch? What did you think? I'm still planning on going to watch Rise Of the Planet Of The Apes and 30 Minutes or Less.

    "Thor"
Good movie, with interesting production design, especially in Asgard, a central character worth caring about, and a story that while it may be difficult to get into, does its job well. Thor emerges as a very different character than when he started in the story.

    "Priest"
A nonsensical post-apocalyptic action-fest. I'm all for suspending disbelief, but when Mr. Priest Without a Name is running on rocks that are thrown in the air, then that's going too far. Aside from things like that, it really could've used more development. The steampunk-ish setting was very nice, but that's all there was to it.

    "Green Lantern"
While it made a little more sense than "Priest," it's no "Dark Knight" by any stretch. Ryan Reynolds does the job adequately as the Green Lantern, but it would've helped to include more detail about what's going on (e.g. yellow = fear), and maybe some more depth with the action sequences (when there's a huge blob of sheer nastiness looming over a city, wouldn't the Army try to get involved?).

    "Harry Potter 7B"
I've read the books and seen the prior movies, so I knew what to expect, and it delivered. The battle scene is one for the ages ("Abracadabrapocalypse?"), but there may have been some loose ends that didn't get tied up as adequately as I'd have wanted. Still, not much to complain about.

    "Captain America"
Old-fashioned fun is fun again as a man who is weak physically but strong mentally is transformed into a super-soldier. It has a cool retro look, similar to "Sky Captain" and plenty of satisfying action, but there are some plot twists that didn't make much sense right away.

    My ultimate movie year:

The Hangover Part 2 - Similar to the first but definitely effective.
    Suburban Knights - Very funny.
Horrible Bosses - Far from horrible.
    Captain America - Amazing movie.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 - Great movie.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Now a fan of the franchise.
Cowboys and Aliens - A good movie, although the boat being in the desert wasn't explained and how Dog the dog survived and the kiss annoyed me.

Too similar to the first if you ask me.

    That guy with the glasses?

The Freedom Fighter wrote:Captain America - Amazing movie.

I would rank it as Marvel's second best movie, behind the original Spider-Man. Some of the action scenes were short-lived for my tastes, though.

Maybe so, but that's why the third will do it differently.

Yeah, like Doug said, it was rushed at the end, but otherwise I enjoyed it moreso than Spider-man (which shocked me). Either way, Spider-man is still the best Thanksgiving movie (simply because it's Thanksgiving in the movie :P).

    Hm, I saw:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Loved it.
    Green Lantern - Decent.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Really liked it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part II - Really good.
Mr. Popper's Penguins - Amusing to say the least.
Captain America - Not too bad, but felt like it dragged on a lot.
Cowboys and Aliens - Honestly, I thought it was pretty boring and not very interesting.

Pretty sure that's it, I might be missing one or two but they're probably unimportant.

All i saw i think was Harry Potter and the deathly hallows pt II.
For someone who has read all the books, seen all the movies, thinks the series is awesome (besides the horrible book/movie Order of the Phoenix), I say the movie was excellent and a terrific end.

Now you still won't understand it all unless you read the books (no book to movie is perfect) but I think they did pretty good tying it all together.

Really? People always tell me 5 is the best.
I can't remember the book, but I felt like the movie cut too much and relied too much on montages.

It was a good book, but it couldn't stand compared to the other Harry Potter books.. hopefully that makes sense.

The book felt like it just went on and on and on with useless plot points... it really seems like a giant filler made before the last 2 books. Besides a certain godfather dying of course...

alas this isn't a harry potter thread so i'll leave it at that

Cars 2 : It was actually decent, much better than the reviews.
The Zookeeper : I laughed. "Throw poop at 'er!"
The Smurfs : Oh God help us. This movie was AWFUL. Actually, it could've had a chance without the Smurfs.
On Stranger Tides : GAH, it was great.
Harry Potter 7B : Well, the more fun part for me was the experience. I went as part of a group that dresses and does pictures, hands out merchandise like posters and glasses, and takes pictures with people. And the movie? It was great. I cried twice.
