Any of you plan to buy it?Google's Nexus Q sphere-shaped media streamer, announced exclusively for the US market alongside the internationally-available Nexus S tablet, has been delayed as the company works to increase its feature set.
The Android-powered Nexus Q is Google's answer to Apple TV: featuring tight integration with Google's cloud-based music and video services, the Nexus Q wirelessly streams content to speakers and a TV. It's a clever device, but its $299 price-tag - $200 more than Apple's equivalent Apple TV device - meant that initial pre-orders were slow.
Coupled with some weak first-look reactions from US press, it's clear Google needed to do something - and that something, it turns out, is delaying the launch of the device while it works on improving its usability and adding new features to help explain the $299 recommended retail price.
For those in the US who had placed an early pre-order, however, Google has some happier news: while they won't be getting it until the bugs are fixed, they will now be getting it for free with all pre-orders having their price adjusted to zero dollars.
