Sad news. Also,
Six million monthly per month. Eeeeeeyup.
Monthly readership of Nintendo Power itself has shrunk over the years to 475k, which is dwarfed by GameInformer’s six million monthly per month.

It's easy to see how this happened. Gamestop serves as most people's primary game retailer, and employees are encouraged to push pro cards that come with a GI subscription for about 10 dollars less then most annual subscriptions. Obviously, most people probably wouldn't see a point in being subscribed to two game magazines, because even though GI is pure trash, the benefits you're given for subscribing at Gamestop outweigh pretty much anything other magazines have to offer.Schnickelfritz wrote:Sad news. Yup. I've read Game Informer for about 2 years, and Nintendo Power for about 6, and Nintendo Power is a much better game magazine, not even close. I had a feeling it was going to end soon for some reason. Shame it actually is.Erazor wrote:It's easy to see how this happened. I don't read Nintendo magazine, but my brother gets it, and from what I've seen of it, it looks like a really good magazine that I am sad to hear is going away.

Can't say I'll miss it. I only ever purchased one issue. Makes me glad EGM came back though.

Pretty much this, glad they killed it before it got even worse. The decline of Nintendo Power started in about mid 2005 for me, lost interest.Erazor wrote:Can't say I'll miss it. I only ever purchased one issue. Makes me glad EGM came back though.

Aren't magazines in general starting to die out? That was the impression I was under.

Re: Nintendo Power Ends After 24 Years
My family's been subscribed for a good 10 years...? Never read any of them in their entirety but it's sad to see it go. Howard and Nester forever.
