There is a positive effect though. When Sydney, Australia first did this event in 2007, 2.2 million citizens took part. That reduced carbon dioxide emmitions by 13 tonnes, the equivelent of taking almost 45,000 vehicles off of the road for one hour. This was what happened when one city took a committment, think about what it may be like when the entire world completes it.
