2008 saw the release of House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for the Nintendo Wii, which, as one might expect, were home versions of Sega’s classic lightgun shooters, bundled together and included on a single disc. It served as something of a lead up to 2009′s House of the Dead Overkill, a grindhouse-inspired reboot of the franchise. In a reversal of roles, House of the Dead Overkill: Director’s Cut saw a release on the Playstation 3 late in 2011, and is being followed by the announcement that House of the Dead 3 and House of the Dead 4 will be landing on Playstation Network sometime this year. Like Overkill Director’s Cut, both games are geared towards the Playstation Move peripheral, which provides Wii-like pointer controls on the Playstation 3.
