When I think of the term "best anime," my logic is similar to that of Dr. Perry Cox when thinking of the term "best surgeon," that being that "it's not that hard for a turd to float to the top of a toilet."
That said, Death note was good toward the beginning. I watched all of Death Note online over the course of two days once when I had jack to do for a time, and I could actually see it getting worse. For a time, I expected there to be some fan service gay sex scene with L and Light/Kira.
