Re: You celebrate Christmas ?
Yeah I celebrate Christmas- I love it! best time of the year for me. My mum however, doesn't... she hates Christmas, if it wasn't for the fact I kept going on at her, she wasn't even going to put a Christmas tree up.

I acknowledge Christmas by putting up a tree, despite being a hardcore atheist, though I never send out gifts or cards, and the only time I got even a single card after I was 19 was last year, from a little boy who lives a bit away that I don't really even know.

There's things I like about Christmas, yeah. It's an excuse to have fun and hang out with people we don't really get to see - so, why not celebrate? Unless you've got your own winter-festive-holiday. As long as everyone is happy and enjoying themselves.

I do.
And, I'm one of the few people today who know where Christmas came from.

Re: You celebrate Christmas ?
If memory serves, it did indeed come from pagan rituals, but those wacky Christians hijacked what was once a sex- and booze-filled holiday and said it was now about the birth of Jesus, even though it's very obvious that Jesus was born toward the warmer side of the year. But eh, whatever.

It was once a pagan holiday, but I'm talking about the "meaning of Christmas." Today, it is widely said that gift giving is the meaning of it. However, the proper meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the coming of Jesus. And, I have no idea where you got the assumption that Jesus was born in a different month and everything.
Funny thing is, you make religion look good. Christians have morality. You just have controversy.

1: The original meaning of Christmas more or less boiled down to "get as drunk and screwed as you can." But then your corrupting ilk hijacked it, and humanity lost what may very well have been the funnest holiday ever, replaced with one about Jesus, which eventually turned into one that teaches a completely broken Aesop to highly impressionable children.
2: That sort of works into the story, actually, what with the gifts given to Jesus when he was born.
3: It was undoubtedly warm when Jesus was born, because the shepherds traveled miles through the wilderness without any form of preparation. You couldn't do that in the cold way back then, or at least not without freezing to death.
4: Urgh, this again? Listen fucknuts, until you have anything beyond hearsay in your adaptation-decayed book that's almost surely complete bs by now even if the original tales held any amount of truth to prove beyond reasonable doubt that your morals are any better than mine, shut the f up and go f yourself, you r-jew.

1. Corrupting? Jesus didn't create the myth of Santa Claus. Stop blaming everything on religion stop making scapegoats out of things you don't like.
2. That's kind of the point, but the star on the tree is a major symbol, too.
3. They didn't go out naked. They had lots of clothing. We're talking about native traveling culture before religion really was your concern.
