He certainly seems like one. Women literally run after him, and he's had quite a few serious relationships throughout the comics (or so I heard). Is this a good thing, or no? Should more women be shown swooning over our speedy friend in the games and other media, or no? Any preferences as to where things should go?

Considering his character flaws, it's been rough for him to hold down anything 'serious'.
He's arrogant and cocky and I don't think that really appeals to a girl in the long-term. His need to 'always be on the move' cost him his relationship with Sally (at least as far as we know). Amy seems to be the only one who wants to marry him and live out her crazed dreams of insane hedgehog wedlock.
But in previous issues, they have portrayed random non-important female characters with cliche hearts in their eyes for Sonic.

While 84 probably meant this as a troll, I'm inclined to agree. If nothing else, there are strange connections and interactions between him and Tails, especially when no one -- or no one noteworthy -- is around. Well, I don't know about any of that, but Sonic clearly took the "older brother" type talks with Tails a bit into odd territory at times. He and Knuckles have also said some Joker/Batman and/or Vegeta/Goku type things. I can't recall the exact words, but if you've watched a bit of DBZ or the mega-grimdark era Batman stuff (Save for possibly the recent Dark Knight films, which just don't quite fit that image anyway. In my opinion, at least.) you'll know what I mean.
