Uhh, I thought this would be a good general topic for Sonic 4.
I've heard that Sonic 4: Episode 1 doesn't have anything relatively new in it, but what about this:
"Sonic 4: Episode 1 is more of a homage to the Genesis days. This would explain why there's nothing TOO new in the game. It's also pretty smart; in this way, Sonic 4 can recapture fans of the old classics and maybe get some new gamers into the mix. But when it gets to Sonic 4: Episode 2, that's when they start changing it around, and maybe the story continues from where it left off like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles."
Quoted because I took this from...myself? Is that grammatically correct? Anyway, that's my own assumption of why it would be like that.
