Sonic was made to rival Mario during the 90s, and developed to be "cool" to the kids during that time, of which Mario apparently seemed to be lacking. Do you think that Sonic is still cool to this day, or not?

Well, he is under fierce competition these days from better and newer characters such as Silver, Amy, Shadow, Knuckles, Elise, Blaze, Eggman and others, but I think that Sonic can still cut it.

The character itself is still relevant and enjoys a cult following. It's as the others say, the platforms that he's presented on (by that I mean the games) that are the problem.

Although I believe Sonic is cool, newer characters to the franchise such as Shadow and Silver somewhat hurt his fan base and make him less cooler (some people prefer them instead).

Well he was never really "cool" to me. Even in the cartoons I only just saw him as an smart mouthed impatient protagonist. He's my favorite character, however I just never really saw him as cool.

Alongside characters like Shadow, Knuckles etc. he just seems too obvious.
