Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

Surprisingly it got an 8 out of 10 on IGN. I don't know if IGN ever gave a Sonic game a rating that high!

I want to get it myself. I can't have Mario Kart and this looks like a good alternative.

I have it. Its fun to play. I alternate between this and Mario Kart.

Moved to Sonic section. On topic, I've played the demo, and what little I've played of it impressed me, it's not as big of a Mario Kart rip-off as you would assume, it does have some unique features to it. The steering is a bit stiff in my experience, however.

Yes, I have it. I honestly believe IGN rates games pretty effectively because this game deserves a decent 7 or 8.

It's not a bad game, but it is similar to Mario Kart. There's no way around that though- any fun unrealistic party racing game becomes Mario Kart-like. Mario Kart defined racing, so it's really only natural other games follow suite.

The game is pretty cool. I bought it used (so it was cheaper) and was pretty satisfied with the results. Introduces Sega and Sonic characters pretty well.

I own the game and I really love it. One of the best Mario Kart clones out there, imo.

I have the Wii version and played it until I unlocked everything that was in the store. I liked how the drifting system worked.

Yes. I know I'm going to get this. I might not be able to get it until Christmas though. I'm strapped for cash right now.

I don't have a wii and want a kart racer to play with friends. There is a shortage of games that you can play with people in the same room in my opinion. The HD graphics look good also. I like the wii, but I know it would look distorted on my large HD Samsung.--Standard def games on high def TVs---I'm sure there are enough ideas about this to warrant it's own thread. :)

Anyway in my opinion sonic & sega all star racing is better than mario kart. I prefer their gameplay and it has better quality!

I plan on getting it soon. I've been hhearing good stuff about it

As I said, every party-like racing game is a clone of Mario Kart. Mario Kart innovatively created its own genre in gaming that is followed. And I honestly think no similar racing game can surpass its effectiveness.

Actually, CTR was a great game, but MK still created the genre. CTR followed the same formula Mario did, so in my regards, I think Mario Kart deserves the credit.

Nonetheless, every game must follow that genre. And this game is an enjoyable one that does it well.

Well, does it count though if Mario Kart wasn't 3D when CTR was made?

Ugh I can't find the game in my local gamestop... which consoles is it for?

If you mean All-Stars Racing, Wii, Xbox 360 and maybe PS3.

I have it now. It's awesome. There was only one copy left where I got it. I could have downloaded it but I prefer it on disk (If anything happened to my Hard Drive, It would be gone). Personally I think it has a completely different feel than Mario Kart....Although, the last Mario Kart that I played extensively was Mario Kart 64 So, maybe the wii version feels like this Sonic racer. I recommend it. It isn't the greatest game of all time, but it is a solid multi-player racing game.

Now we know why Super Sonic couldn't find it. :P
