Actually, no. It lets the topic get past 990, (I discovered it the hard way.) but at a certain number not far past that, it cuts the first 990 out. By that number, there are always a few pages of the latest posts left. It's happened many a time to the random hotel, but I can't remember the exact number where it gets cut.

Again, I'm sure we're going to find out pretty soon anyways, hah.
