I tend to think of it as how Orochimaru can make infinite amounts of snakes from one in Naruto. Like Kay has the ability to make an infinite amount of him and can morph together to form smaller units when necessary. He could even split apart to make even more of him. Ok, I want to see if this looks right to you guys, here's my question:
How much heat is required to change 235g of iodine at 25°C into vapor at 198°C?(Melting point is 113.5°C, boiling point is 185.4°C.)
I will be using the x's as a symbol of multiplication.
I first figure the amount of energy needed between 25°C to 113.5°C.
M = 235g, ΔTiodine = 113.5°C - 25°C = 88.5°C, ciodine = 0.214 J/g x °C
q1 = (cMΔT)iodine = 0.214 J/g x °C x 235g x 88.5°C = 4,450.665J
Now, I determine the energy needed between 113.5°C to 185.4°C.
M = 235g, ΔTiodine = 185.4°C - 113.5°C = 71.9°C, ciodine = 0.214 J/g x °C
q2 = (cMΔT)iodine = 0.214 J/g x °C x 235g x 71.9°C = 3,615.851J
Now, I determine the energy needed between 185.4°C and 198°C.
M = 235g, ΔTiodine = 198°C - 185.4°C = 12.6°C, ciodine = 0.214 J/g x °C
q3 = (cMΔT)iodine = 0.214 J/g x °C x 235g x 12.6°C = 633.654J
Now, I determine the energy needed to vaporize the iodine.
M = 235g, ΔHvap = 164 J/g
q4 = MΔHvap = 235g x 164 J/g = 38,540J
Now, I find the total amount of energy needed.
qt = q1 + q2 + q3 + q4
= 4,450.665 + 3,615.851 + 633.654 + 38,540
= 47,240.17
= 47,200 Joules
I think that looks about right.

Oh no. I'm not just suffering seeing that as a wall of gibberish. I read the first part and I thought "Oh, well to do this problem I'll need to know this and this and this..." And now I'm stuck between diving headfirst into chemistry for the first time and just leaving it alone. I don't think I want to get into it, but I'm curious.

You can't continue any further if it's wrong. You have to correct them until it's right. It's like that with every book. Then you take a test at the end of the book, then it's done.
