What this means is, pure and simple, you get what you earn. Want to become a staff member? Prove you deserve it. Be an unintelligible blight on all dignified social interaction? You've rightfully earned your banishment. It's all about proving your self-worth.
With this in mind, the way the hierarchy is set up is going to change. Instead of appointment by some anal retentive retard (see: me) sitting up on his throne, we're going to spread the community decision wealth and have staff positions open to application. Now of course this doesn't mean everyone who applies automatically gets accepted, like any real job the employer takes heavy consideration into who they're putting their investment in and expects to see not only valuable skills and assets, but a return on the investment of said resources.
This is all in the interest of neutrality and objectivity; it should be what you know, not who you know. And we can build a proper system around that principle.
As it stands, there will be three main tiers that will be operating TSC as a whole.
Administrators: What can you do to help manage/maintain a site in its entire running? What specific skills can you do that would benefit TSC and can you be trusted with the key to the site?
Moderators: Do you have a firm grasp of our rules, and what we do and don't accept from a user's conduct and behavior? Are you able to view a social situation objectively and decide fairly? Can you be trusted to be confident enough to execute firm judgment on your own without the need of admin consent? Are you active enough to monitor forum activity to be able to be the first one to notice changes?
Heroes: You can't necessarily apply for this position, it too is earned through annual nominations by the community. These users, although holding no forum authority over accounts in a direct sense, will be able to access the staff forum and discuss the site's policies and major decisions as it's been determined through the test of time and trust that their opinion holds weight and will be considered as much as any staff member's would. See them as the faux congress. If there ever should be a chatbox moderator, they would be the exception to appointment as they hold minimal power over users relative to their jurisdiction. Most, if not all users in the heroes group are the most immediate candidates for backup moderatorship should the need arise for any.
With all of this push towards fairness, it should be noted here that private contact with me will be limited to any subject that does not involve the site's decisions, to avoid any attempt to sway me politically for their own gain. If any mention of a decision or suggestion is to be made, it is to be made on the forum, in public. Any private suggestion will be met with immediate severance of contact and will not be tolerated.
As always, I'll be taking any questions, comments, suggestions and cookie briberies into consideration here.
As well, all applications will be posted here, no private applications allowed.
