Some are pushing for the new age to be 18 instead of 21. Thoughts?

Terrible idea.
1. Teenagers + drinking = no.
2. Drinking + driving = no no.
3. Teenagers + drinking + driving = no no no.
The limit is 21, but everyone drinks anyways. Once you pull the limit to 18, soon, 15 year olds will be heading out to bars.
Besides, there's absolutely no reason to change the age. Scientifically, it would be bad, since drinking and an 18 year old's level of brain development don't mix well. And bars DON'T need to be making more money.

I don't want to see the drinking age go down from 21 to 18. It has disaster written all over it. You just don't want a domino effect happening when the 18 year olds are allowed to drink and then suddenlt the 15 year olds cry foul and they push for it. Terrible. I am 19 right now, but I have no desire to drink alcohol. Of course, that's my preference. Other people out there just want to drink so badly.

But then, you've just opened the world of drinking up to so many more law-abiding teenagers who can now drink without breaking the law.
A few of my buddies go out and get shizface drunk every day of the week. They blow hundreds of dollars on booze, and even show up to class ready to puke. It's not healthy, and definitely not what America wants for most 19 year olds. At least now, MOST people will show moderate restraint until they're 21, then go wild.

The brain's development isn't even done until 22 years of age, so by science standards, it should go up (interesting to note, it starts going down at 27). But that kinda seems pointless. After all, when the age was at 18, the world seemed to work quite.
But all in all, I do find it unfair/stupid that the age would be as high as it is when forced military (for males at least), smoking, and voting are all at 18. Furthermore, two of which can kill the person, while the last puts the country in the hands of teens, who apparently are fully developed mentally.

So the brain peaks at 24-25? Also you can not legally rent a car until you are 25. Just a side note.
