My opinion exactly.

I understand the love for them. But look at the activity...The Other board is the most popular it seems with eight threads being posted in throughout the past week. Shadow has one, Silver has one, Amy has three, Knuckles has one, Tails has four, and Sonic has five. Do you really think that is enough to sustain so many boards? Is there that much to talk discuss about a single character? At the very least, I suggest making them one board. There just isn't enough activity, IMO.

Also, some reordering of the boards would be nice. Check it:

Random board should be on top of Entertainment in the Off Topic parent. It seems to be more popular. S&tBK should be merged into General Sonic. And I think the General Gaming parent should just be named Gaming since the discussion isn't general, it's all sorts of gaming. The General Gaming board should be at the very top of that section, followed by SEGA (they did make Sonic, and make the "Sega" in the description capitalized, btw), then the Nintendo board (should be renamed from Wii and DS, that looks like it's only geared toward those two consoles), then the Xbox board (it's Xbox, not XBOX, says Microsoft), and finally, the Sony board. Sony makes more than the PlayStation, plus they made games before the PlayStation consoles. It just looks better and more approachable, I think. Oh, and I think you should move the Gaming section above the Off Topic Section.

I don't see killing the forums as increasing activity. We need to attract more members now.

And TFF, it's not oing to instantly increase membership if we delete those boards. But it allows more room for growth. When you have your topics spread out over numerous boards, it looks like there's fewer activity. Think of it like seeing 10 boards with 3 topics in each of them, or seeing one board with 30 topics in it. Which would you think is more popular?

Once discussion increases, that's when I feel we should expand the boards themselves. Right now, we have too much space to grow out into, it's like one person living in a mansion built for 50.

I disagree. Cramming them together makes everything harder and less navigable for me.
