In college football news, the University of Southern California (USC) will receive sanctions that include a 2-year postseason and TV ban, loss of 20 football scholarships and vacation of at least 13 wins in the 2004 season for violations the football program allegedly committed in 2004. USC may also lose their 2004 Pac-10 and BCS titles, and then-USC running back Reggie Bush may also lose the Heisman trophy he got that year. The sanctions will be announced today, and from there, USC will have a chance to appeal. If not, they will receive at least all the above punishments. Great way to start your coaching career at USC, Lane Kiffin.

In other D-1 football news, the University of Colorado has announced today that they will transfer out of the Big 12 Conference to join the Pacific-10 (Pac-10) Conference. The Pac-10 offered them a chance to join as well as Texas-Austin, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Of course, it won't take much: if Texas goes, the rest will follow since Texas has always been a powerhouse in the conference. If they leave, there won't be another to give the Big 12 enough credibility to stay a BCS conference, so the other four will go to the Pac-10. At the moment, it's the Pac-11, but if all the other schools join, there'll be 16 teams. Wonder how that'll work out.
